#BLAwards2015 Low Down!
#BLAwards2015 Low Down!
Last night, was the night! It seems so surreal that this huge event, which we have been planning for months now, finally arrived and was over in just a few hours! But what a few hours it was. Getting to meet our amazing #BLAwards2015 finalists, watching them receive their well-deserved awards and partying with them after, made it the most magical evening.
One of the most rewarding parts of hosting the awards was to watch the bloggers receive their awards. It was incredibly humbling to see how much it meant to the bloggers. The beautiful Jasmine from Afia And Jay who won ‘Best Newbie’ and our overall ‘Special Commendation’, chosen by the Bloggers’ Lounge staff, was so thrilled. In all honesty it made the whole evening worthwhile.
Our night started with a reception of bubbles and party food, at Grace Bar in Piccadilly. It gave everyone a chance to finally meet, in real life, the people behind the Twitter handle and Instagram selfie! As well as the bloggers there were also our wonderful sponsors from Breast Cancer Care, Prezzy Box, Rakuten Marketing, Amara, White Stuff, Sundial and Jelly Belly (the lovely Victoria arrived with a huge box of Jelly Beans for ‘Best Food’ winner Imogen Molly).
Before we knew it, it was time for the winner’s announcements. You could feel the excitement fizzing around the room, or maybe that was the bubbles… DBD’s Content Marketing Manager and Bloggers’ Lounge Editor Rebecca Brown did the most amazing job of presenting the awards (if Stephen Fry ever fancies taking a break from the BAFTA’s, I think we have a worthy fill in)!
A very honourable mention to the inspiring Liz, from Liz.Oriordan, who presented the ‘Best Charity’ award to the well deserving Caron Cares. She gave a beautiful speech that really highlighted why charity bloggers are so important.
This year the competition was so high. To give you an example, we had over 750 entrants, 10,000 votes (!!) and only 70 finalists. We are so proud of the bloggers’ and all they achieved to become a finalist; it may sound cheesy but they are all winners to us!
The announcements seemed to be over all too quickly… (Maybe next year we’ll double the categories!) It wasn’t long before we were all mingling and congratulating each other at the reception. We were able to personally congratulate the winners, and talk about their blog and what it means to them.
Before the bloggers and guests left, they were treated to a gift bag with some amazing treats! A huge thanks to the wonderful people at Urban Outfitters, Magnitone, Jelly Belly, Popchips, Graze, Virtue, Little Miracles, Glossy Box and Dryu who were so generous with their gifts.
We had the most amazing night, wine was flowing, awards were gratefully received and we finally got to meet so many bloggers we had spent so long reading!
Thank you so much to the Content Marketing team and Ellie, our Head of Marketing, who worked so tirelessly to make the event a success.
Here’s to Blogger of the Year 2016!!
