Instagram Business Tools On the Way

Instagram’s popularity is showing no signs of slowing down, and its use – by individuals and businesses alike – is in vogue to share images relating to life, products and business. Whether it’s for an illustrated inspirational quote, a behind-the-scenes photoshoot or a snapshot of a store’s display, Instagram has made itself invaluable to small and large brands as a way to promote themselves in a slightly different way.

Instagram wanted to be seen to be doing more for its business users, so conducted interviews with hundreds of businesses, stating that “three key needs became clear – stand out, get insights and find new customers”.

With this in mind, Instagram has created Instagram Business Tools. To start, an account has to be registered as a business profile, which will be a free feature for any account that wants to be seen as a business on the site.

“With a business profile, businesses can choose how they want their customers to get in touch with them: call, text or email with a tap of the contact button as well as get directions.”

With a business profile, brands can also access insights and start to promote themselves.

Instagram Insights

Businesses told Instagram that various analytics tools they could use were sometimes overwhelming and confusing. Insights on Instagram tells users which of their posts are resonating with users, and provides information about who their followers are. With this understanding of the demographics of those who are enjoying your brand, you will be able to provide better, more relevant content that meets their needs.

Promote yourself on Instagram

The final benefit of Instagram’s Business Tools is the ability to turn posts that are performing well into a paid ad, right from the app itself. You can choose any post that you have already shared and add a button to it that encourages your fans and followers to take an action. You can select the audience you want to promote it to or take suggestions from Instagram itself about target demographics.

Your post will then be promoted as an ad so you can reach more potential customers.

When can I get access?

Business profiles are being rolled out in the US, Australia and New Zealand over the next few months. They will be available worldwide by the end of the year.
